First edition of the A Canteira Experience Showcase came to an end after four days in Vigo, during which 28 young footballers from 11 different nationalities were able to get an up-close look at the A Canteira methodology and enjoy a training and competition experience alongside Celta coaches. The programme included six training sessions, assessments, educational talks, matches and various activities linked to the club.
Among all the participants, Ian, a young Honduran footballer, became the standout figure of this first edition. His performance during the Showcase caught the attention of the A Canteira coaches, who decided to give him the opportunity to extend his stay in Vigo for several more weeks to continue training with the Cadete B within Celta’s academy structure.
Ian’s case joins other stories that reflect the opportunities that A Canteira Experience can create for young international talents. Footballers such as Yua, Joseph and Rodrigo Gadea have also found in the project a pathway to get closer to Celta’s youth football system and continue developing their potential in Vigo. Stories that reinforce A Canteira Experience’s commitment to connecting international talent with the methodology and structure of A Canteira.
The outcome of this first edition, organised in partnership with Panda Events 4 Sports, has been very positive, both because of the experience enjoyed by the 28 participants and the opportunities it has generated. Ian’s case represents a first success story that reinforces the Showcase’s commitment to continuity, an initiative that was created with the aim of becoming an established event for training and developing international talent in Vigo.
