This Thursday, July 10, the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza was the setting for the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony of the second phase of the GS360 project, now renamed Celta360. The event marked the beginning of a new chapter in the club’s history — the start of a more innovative sports city, open to everyone and aiming to become a global benchmark.

Elite athletes, various authorities, sponsors involved in the project, and club employees didn’t want to miss the event, nor did the more than 200 Celta fans who attended the presentation of this new phase with great excitement.

The event began with an introduction by Galician presenter Esther Estévez, who hosted the special evening, divided into three parts: past, present, and future.

The memory of the club’s origins was brought to life by Juan de Castro, grandson of Manuel de Castro Handicap. The present was represented by world-class athletes such as handball player Rodrigo Corrales; canoeist Teresa Portela; basketball player María Araujo; and renowned fitness coach Pepe Casal. All of them perfectly embody the values of effort and commitment that Celta360 aims to continue promoting in this new phase. The future was told through the voices of Lara, captain of As Celtas, and Damián, player for the first team — both perfect examples of how talent and hard work can create real paths to the elite level, and how the journey from the stands to the pitch is truly possible.

After this segment, Esther introduced Carlos Cao, the club’s director of infrastructure; Marco Garcés, director of football; and Claudio Giráldez, head coach of the first team. They spoke about Celta’s competitiveness, its future, and the improvements to both facilities and the professional and personal development of all the players.

“Today we begin the second phase of Celta360 with a mix of excitement, enthusiasm, and above all, pride… We are excited and ready to embrace what this project means for the club and for Galician sport… Celta360 will strengthen our connection with the community, because now, with this second phase, it will truly be a place open to all Celta fans and the entire community,” stated Marián Mouriño.
The club president also emphasized what this project means for Celta, echoing each of the earlier points and highlighting that the creation of the new Cidade Deportiva Afouteza has been made possible thanks to the support of the workers, sponsors, the Pereiras Community of Montes, the Celta fanbase, and institutions — all of whom had their moment in the spotlight.
Nidia Arévalo, mayor of Mos, declared: “Together we made it happen… Thank you for trusting in Mos and in me… This will be a legacy for our children and grandchildren.”
This was echoed by Alfonso Rueda, president of the Xunta de Galicia, who described the project as “an adventure for everyone… We’re all in the same boat… This is the future of Celta, but also of sport in Galicia… This goes beyond football… This is just the beginning.”

The final touch was given by writer Defreds, with an emotional piece that led into the closing cocktail, where all attendees shared in the excitement for the club’s future and the Celta360 project.

Afouteza is growing — and with it, the Celeste dream.
