Celta continues to strengthen the Celta360 project internationally alongside its commitment to developing young talent. In this context, the Cidade Deportiva Afouteza, one of the pillars of the Celta360 ecosystem, has in recent days hosted the institutional and sporting visit of Mexico’s Liga TDP, one of the country’s main platforms for the development of youth football.
The first day took place last Friday, March 27, when the club welcomed to Afouteza a U19 selection made up of players from different teams that are part of Liga TDP. This group, which took part in the Oviedo Cup during Easter week, had the opportunity to experience Celta’s facilities firsthand through a complete tour of the complex. During the visit, the players and coaching staff were able to discover the club’s working methodology, as well as the different areas that make up the sky-blue training model, a key component of the Celta360 project.
The second institutional day was held on Monday, March 31, with the reception of a delegation of Liga TDP and Mexican football executives, including César Rogelio Velázquez Alcántara, general director of Liga TDP; Jorge Eduardo García Hernández, president of Club Atlético Leones and Liga TDP executive; Jorge Alcántar García, president of Club Xalisco and Liga TDP executive; Karina Medel Romero, legal manager of Liga TDP; Salomith Ramírez, president of Club Irapuato of Liga Expansión; and Bernardo Hernández, institutional liaison of Club Guadalajara.
During the meeting, Celta presented its sporting and institutional project in detail, addressing both current matters and future strategic lines. The Mexican delegation also had the opportunity to exchange views with the Vigo club’s director of football, Marco Garcés, in an environment of knowledge-sharing and experiences regarding talent development models. The day concluded with an institutional photograph and a shirt exchange symbolizing the strengthening of ties between both entities.
This competition, Liga TDP, is the fourth tier of football in Mexico and the developmental base of the professional system organized by the Mexican Football Federation. It is mainly composed of development clubs and reserve teams, bringing together young footballers aged between 15 and 23 who seek to make the leap to professional football. Today, it is consolidated as a fundamental pillar in the structure of Mexican football.
Following these working sessions, Celta and Liga TDP are looking ahead to future collaborations that will generate synergies within the Celta360 ecosystem. Both entities share the vision of promoting the comprehensive development of players and advancing international projects that encourage the growth of young talent.
With initiatives like this, the entity presided over by Marián Mouriño continues to consolidate Celta360 as a global meeting point for training, exchange, and innovation in grassroots football.
