The program, integrated into Celta360, will allow young people from around the world to train under the club’s methodology, compete within its structure, and combine football with prestigious academic education in Vigo and its metropolitan area

Celta takes another step forward in its internationalization strategy with the launch of A Canteira Experience, a program designed to attract and develop football talent from all over the world within the club’s structure. Integrated into the Celta360 ecosystem, this project is born with a clear purpose: to turn Galicia—more specifically Vigo and its metropolitan area—into an international benchmark destination for the comprehensive development of footballers. The club’s objective is to open its academy model to global talent and position itself as a key player in the international development of footballers.

“A Canteira Experience is the essence of Celta. With this program, we are taking another step forward: opening our model to international talent and offering a real development experience within a LaLiga club with a presence in Europe. We want Vigo to be a meeting point for young footballers from all over the world,” the club stated.

Through this program, young international players will have the opportunity to train under Celta’s official methodology, share dynamics with academy teams, and be evaluated in a real environment within a club that competes in LaLiga and the UEFA Europa League. In addition, they will be able to join a dedicated team, Celta360, which will compete as another side within the club’s structure starting from the 2026/2027 season.

Beyond sporting development, A Canteira Experience focuses on comprehensive education. Participants will combine their football development with tailored academic pathways, including Secondary Education, National and International Baccalaureate at Colegio Los Sauces—an educational institution included in Forbes’ list of the 100 best schools—as well as different educational options at the University of Vigo. The program is completed with Spanish language and cultural training to facilitate players’ integration.

A project with global reach

Over the last three seasons, this model—until now operating under the Celta Academy brand—has brought together nearly 400 players from 53 different nationalities, consolidating the project’s international growth. Countries such as Germany, Brazil, the United States, Japan, Mexico, and the United Kingdom have been part of the program, along with emerging markets in global football such as Ghana, Tanzania, Uzbekistan, and Lebanon. The impact of the model is also reflected in the sporting progression of its participants, with players who have made the leap to professional structures or to the club’s academy teams, such as Joseph JR (Tanzania), Yua Kamiyama (Japan), and Isaías Abuabara (Panama), among others.

With A Canteira Experience, Celta not only strengthens its international strategy but also opens its methodology and structure to global talent, reinforcing its positioning as one of the most active clubs in the international development of talent within professional environments.
