The Celta360 project continues to make steady progress towards becoming Galicia’s leading sports, education and innovation complex. With the aim of gaining first-hand insight into the progress of the construction works, the facilities welcomed an institutional visit this Tuesday from the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the Mayor of Mos, Nidia Arévalo; and the Rector of the University of Vigo, Manuel Joaquín Reigosa. They toured the different areas of the complex accompanied by Celta President Marián Mouriño and the club’s Director of Infrastructure and Institutional Relations, Carlos Cao.
At the end of the visit, Celta President Marián Mouriño highlighted the importance of showcasing the progress achieved so far to the key institutions involved in the project. “The progress is already visible and we wanted to show it to the President of the Xunta, the Rector of the University of Vigo and the Mayor of Mos,” she stated. Mouriño also praised the recent recognition received from LALIGA, whose president, Javier Tebas, commended the project’s exemplary approach to sustainability. She also underlined the importance of Celta360 in the context of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, noting that the complex will serve as a host venue and that “one or two national teams will stay at our facilities during the tournament.”
For his part, the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda, thanked the club for the invitation and recalled the first conversations held years ago regarding the viability of the initiative. “I remember talking with Carlos Mouriño about what this project could mean if it became a reality, and today we can already see that it is indeed a reality,” he said. Rueda stressed that Celta360 is a project that “matters to the whole of Galicia” and placed particular emphasis on its educational dimension, highlighting its contribution to the development of young people. He also noted that many of the activities and initiatives hosted at the complex will be innovative and are expected to become a benchmark at European level.
Celta will continue to promote this type of visit involving different institutions and organisations over the coming months, with the aim of bringing the project closer to all those interested in learning first-hand about the evolution of an initiative destined to mark a turning point in the sporting, educational and social development of Galicia.
